Key Duties and Responsibilities

Automotive technicians execute automotive services according to GM quality standards. This includes operating diagnostic equipment in a state-of-the-art facility. Technicians must diagnose vehicle problems accurately and perform corrective repairs efficiently. Technicians need to read, comprehend, and record service data accurately for customer records. Technicians spend a good portion of the workday completing routine maintenance, such as oil changes, tire rotations, wheel alignment, fluid inspections, filter replacement, and multi-point vehicle inspections. Technicians also execute more complicated repairs for the braking system, suspension, transmission, and more. Technicians are also responsible for service department cleanliness and supporting workplace safety.
